News and Events
It is important that the large public and the scientific community are informed about the recent developments on the Fair Trade movement, the trends of academic research in the area and the planned events within the framework of the QMUL Fair Trade project.
Two E-Zine issues of the QMUL Fair Trade project are available to the public. The E-Zine issue 01 May 2007 provides a very brief introduction to the QMUL Fair Trade project, presents the recent Round Table Discussion on the Fair Trade Label organised by the project on the 26 March 2007 at the Carthusian Conference Suite, Chamber of Shipping in London and provides some important news, including a brief on the recent evidence sessions on the Fair Trade movement spearheaded by the International Development Committee (IDC) of the House of Commons. A leaflet presenting the QMUL Fair Trade project in a more extensive way, including the aim and objectives of the project and the contacts of members of the research team is also available here.
The second issue of the E-Zine of the QMUL Fair Trade project of 16 July 2007 is special in that, it focused on a call made by the QMUL project's team to cooperatives and producer groups in four countries to get involved in the project's activities. The call produced some significant results. Sseveral producer groups and cooperatives have agreed to collaborate with the project in particular in respect of field data gathering. From July 2008 onward, QMIUL Fair Trade project's researchers will be visiting South Africa, Bolivia and Ghana. During fieldwork in these countries, researchers will conduct a producer survey based on a questionnaire which revolves around the broader research questions, aims and objectives of the QMUL Fair Trade project.
